My Students

Busy, Busy, and Busy! Is how my day goes. From the minute my little guys come in, to the minute they get on the bus, we are constantly learning. The thirst they have for knowledge is just amazing to me, and I try each day to expose them to as much as possible. They are truly my inspiration.

I work with special needs preschool students ages 2-4 years old.

They come to me with many obstacles and challenges. My little guys have little language, some are autistic, some are downs syndrome and some have learning/behavior difficulties. These babies start school at an infant level and leave me with such amazing progress it brings tears to my eyes. I am so proud to work with preschool students and feel lucky each day to be part of their lives. I provide a multi-sensory approach in order to reach all my students, and they thrive, not because of me , well maybe a little, but because I give them the tools necessary, and a supportive and loving environment. My motto is never say never... We don't know the potential of our students, We must give them a chance to thrive. You may be surprised at what they can do! I feel like a proud mama when they reach a goal. My only hope is that they leave me being happy and loving school!

My Project

I have a typical preschool classroom with wooden furniture and a cold hard floor. My Preschool students do many activities sitting on the floor. We may read stories, listen to music, watch movies, do yoga and just sit as a group to share something special. Many of my students have motor difficulties and it is helpful for them to sit on the floor to work on building muscle strength. My students also work on physical boundaries and body awareness. They love to build tents and have camp outs. Being able to sit on a floor that is safely covered and warm will be very inviting and help to facilitate many more activities.

As a teacher for many years I have been in a wide range of classrooms, some with an abundance of materials and some with minimal amounts.

It is certainly part of the job to provide your students with a place to learn that is like home, warm safe and conducive to learning. that is always my goal!.Preschool children are always laying on the floor playing with their classmates, Having a colorful rug will provide them with a safe and warm place to play. I want to say YES, play on the floor!
