This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching a 4th and 5th grade combo class at a small neighborhood elementary school. The students come from a tight-knit community and our school is much loved by students and parents alike.
These students have the biggest hearts and such a passion for learning.
They thrive with hands-on and experiential learning and overcome obstacles in their personal and academic lives everyday. They are a group of strong and persevering humans.
My Project
Materials such as coloring supplies, glitter, and STEM supplies such as wire, string, washers, etc. will allow students to stretch themselves to design & create objects that meet certain challenge criteria (for example, we will do an egg drop or create ziplines and toothpick bridges).
These types of activities help students create a growth mindset, open to feedback, ready to problem-solve.
Making time for these activities is crucial for academic success, and students develop skills that they apply across subjects. Students will develop the skills needed to succeed in the 21st century, and become the leaders of tomorrow!
