Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Thank you for taking the time to consider my project. I am an English Language Learning Specialist who, after 10 years in the position, am making an exciting change and moving to 5th grade. I am filled with anticipation and enthusiasm to take the knowledge and experience of working with students learning English and bring these tools to my classroom. Although I have many materials that will make an easy transfer to 5th grade, in the world of organizing a classroom for 25+ students, I am starting from scratch in many areas.

I have created a project with organization in mind.

Although it has been a long time since I have led a full classroom, one thing that I believe strongly in is organization. Organization is crucial to student motivation and success. The materials I have selected will be essential to helping my students navigate their final year in elementary school, a year where mastering organization is likely as important as 5th grade content itself. I have carefully chosen items that will benefit students individually, such as the chair pocket covers, privacy folders (providing extra opportunity to focus on tasks), and as a member of the class, such as the storage drawers (intended to help each table group manage content materials) and mailboxes (intended to reduce clutter in desks). I cannot wait to get started on my new adventure and provide several experiences for my students to maximize their focus and learning through organization.
