My Project

These books will help students become avid readers. We want to create a class culture where independent reading is valued by encouraging students, even those who struggle with reading, to enter the reading life. Having a rich classroom library with books on a wide range of reading levels and diverse topics will promote this goal. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Fifth grade is a very important year before they enter middle school, and we want to make sure they have avid support in independent reading as well as in phonics/decoding skills. At this point in the school year, all students have tremendous room to grow across all academic areas. These books will give students opportunities to use their imagination, discover new interests, and gain more confidence. Please help me continue to build our classroom library and reach the interests of all readers. Help us to enhance the language-rich classroom that we strive to create!
