Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students were impacted tremendously by the Coronavirus. Their last normal school year was kinder. Some did a year and a half of virtual school, others two. This is the first year back and a lot of them are lacking handwriting skills.

The materials I am asking for will get them excited about writing!

They are already great artists; they just need an extra push. My students will use crayons, Sharpies, colored pencils, markers, and stamps to create a multitude of authentic writing samples (e.g. birthday cards, thank-you letters, grocery lists, books, etc.) The variety of writing tools will get them motivated to create writing that is also a work of art. They will have the choice to emphasize important things in their writings just like real authors do. We must never forget the original writing tool, the pencil, that always seems to go dull, so this is the reason I am also requesting a pencil sharpener. I am currently receiving professional development training in how to incorporate writing into their daily lives and I am super excited to start this project. Please help me motivate them. Thank-you.
