My Project

My Kindergarten students are 5-6 years old. Many of them come from low-income families. These children have had little exposure to the alphabet before entering my classroom.

Learning the alphabet and its sounds is the most foundational building block of literacy.

The items I have selected will help children accomplish this goal through whole group lessons as well as partner work. The Alphabet Arc is a multisensory approach to teaching letters and sounds. Using it in daily lessons will help students remember the names and sounds the letters make as well as the sequence of the alphabet. As students learn they will be able to use the alphabet arc activities in literacy centers to build CVC and sight words, as well as, breaking words into syllables.

My goal is for students to have engaging lessons using the Alphabet Arc so that they can build a solid foundation in literacy. Thank you so much for helping me to present alphabet lessons to my class in a fun, engaging way.
