I teach 23 enthusiastic, eager to learn, fun and loving students! They all have their very own personalities and ways to shine! They enjoy lots of learning centers and working with one another in partnerships and in groups. I have created some literacy centers, and bought games for all components, to help increase literacy skills. Although my students enjoy the literacy centers created for them, there was just one piece missing and that is a listening center! With a listening center my students will become more confident in themselves, especially when it comes to questioning time. They will have the ability to listen to a story a number of times to get the full effect and understanding of the read aloud!
My Project
Now that my first project is fully funded, I am in need of a variety of books with CD read-alongs. I remember when I was in kindergarten, going to the listening center was one of my favorite centers. I loved choosing a book and listening to it. Books on CD will benefit all of my kindergarten students. It will give them the opportunity to better understand what the book is about. Giving my students exposure before I read the book in class, whole group, will give them the confidence to speak in front of their peers since they will have prior exposure!
