I teach Middle School Mathematics. This year I will be teaching 2 classes of 7th grade math and 1 class of Pre-Algebra. I am currently teaching at a high-need charter school in North Carolina.

The concepts of algebra are hard for students to understand because they seem so abstract, a hands on approach would be helpful.

Algebra tiles are a hands on method of creating a concrete concept from an abstract one. Students will be able to manipulate and see the concrete results of integers, adding and subtracting polynomials, the Zero Principle, and factoring trinomials. Students will be able to internalize their learning and "own" it which leads to better understanding.

Your help will ensure that my students have every opportunity to succeed in math which is key in today's society.
