This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My sixth grade is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are working to become better readers, while some are working on writing skills. Our group loves to earn AR points, learn new games, and explore technology.
In this class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences.
We are part of a larger school that celebrates inclusion. My student demographics include high poverty levels and low reading levels. As my students make gains in my classroom, they begin to build confidence and take on more challenging material. My classroom is about building skills to drastically raise reading levels. We celebrate little wins together each day.
My Project
We currently do not have any technology in the classroom on a daily basis! One Echo Plus, with Alexa could be used by all students. Amazon Alexa is ushering in a new era of technology. One where students, educators, and parents can use their voice to interact with technology that deepens learning, provides access to critical information, and saves time. With Alexa, students can track upcoming events on their calendar, get study resources, or make an appointment with a guidance counselor – all without having to open a computer. Teachers can use Alexa to prepare for upcoming lessons, while administrators can quickly access important information like enrollment statistics.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
