Alaska Outdoors Educational Moose Processing

Help me give my students a nice piece of equipment to help out during our meat processing unit. We work closely with Alaska Fish and Game during our educational moose permit. The grinder will help process our moose.

My Project

This school year I have been able to teach an Alaska Outdoors class with an emphasis on Alaska Ecology. I work closely with the Alaska Fish and Game in obtaining an education moose permit. During this process, the class gets to harvest, clean, process, preserve, and cook the moose. It is a hands on real life experience that the students will always remember. It was a huge success this year.

- This specific grinder will allow our project to move to higher heights with our processing unit.

This past year, we didn't have a nice grinder and it made it a challenge to process the large amounts of burger. This grinder will open the door, to make all sorts of jerky sticks, sausages, and a lot of burger very efficiently.

- The goals for this project are to allow the students into the lifestyle of Alaska outdoor lifestyles. Harvesting and eating moose is a very big part of the Alaska culture, and watching the students learn that process this fall wa

- My students are amazing young adults. They are passionate about their future and our state. Watching them interact within this particular project this year made me extremely proud of their willingness to step our of their comfort zones. Some of them were very comfortable as they have done it with their families before, and others were completely new to the process.

Overall, this project has not only been a large success for my class, but also our entire school. Students can't wait to become Seniors to take this class, and get the opportunity for the Moose unit. This grinder will make the experience that much better.
