Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All of our students are excited to express themselves for the upcoming Aladdin play in June this year. They have auditioned and roles are assigned. Although this is not the first year Broadway Junior is helping put on a play at the school, for many this is the first time being exposed to theatre. This was also the first year they have theatre as an extra curricular during the school day. The students are excited and working hard at rehearsals afterschool.
Research has shown that engaging in theatrical activities can enhance a child’s ability to think outside the box, problem-solve, and create unique narratives.
By immersing themselves in different characters and stories, children develop their imaginative faculties and learn to express themselves creatively.
Our team is trying to come up with costumes and creating the set, but unfortunately we do not have much of a budget. Parents would love to be involved but have their own finanical obligations. These costumes and supplies for the set will help students get into character and boost their confidence! This will enhance the students abilities not only on stage but in the classroom environment, and beyond. Building their self esteem and problem-solving skills will help enrich the young life long learners for the future!
