My Students

This project is to create a Robotics Club for Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers, allowing more opportunities in our rural community. We are located off the road system in Alaska.

The only activities students have opportunity to participate in are what the schools provide.

We have no theatre, no bowling alley, no skate park, no mall, no places for teens to hang out or do the things teens in larger cities take for granted.

Our sports program is huge, but we need to offer more academic challenges for kids not interested in sports.

My Project

Students will learn how to build and program robotics. We would like to be able to purchase EV3MindStorm robotics because it comes in group kits that allow for students to work together to build and program robotics.

Because we live in a primarily fishing village, this EV3MindStorm robotics program will provide our rural students the stepping stone to launch into a variety of career choices.

We would like to offer more for students who typically make due with less.

Robotics can take us beyond were we are, boosting confidence, and strengthening teamwork in a community that is based around collaboration.
