Aiming High and Staying Focused

My Students

I am a teacher at a Title I school, that has a unique program for kids with disabilities. A few years ago, I transferred from the self-contained classroom back into the general education classroom (at the same school) and remained in the GenEd world for a few years. This is my first year back in the EC world, and I'm so excited! Though this school year looks different, there are skills we are working on to help my kids succeed.

Most of my students have behavior goals that are in place to teach them the skills a typically developing student would have, or have learned; like self-calming techniques they are learning.

Meeting all of the needs of my students, while continuing on with the curriculum, is hard for all of us. My students are provided with more one-on-one attention that they need to be successful within the General Education classroom! I am hoping this project will help my students continue to learn the skills they need and provide them with ways they can take ownership of their own behaviors and educational successes.

My Project

I am preparing to move from Elementary school to Middle School and as I've been preparing, I've realized my decor needs to mature as well. The motivational bubbles will help my students stay focused on those days that they are struggling. The fidgets are an amazing way to help my students stay focused when they are in class, without distracting their peers. This will do wonders in maintaining the behaviors displayed.

The organizer cart will be very helpful in keeping students' work separated and in a central location so they know where to find it.

Using it within a special education classroom is essential because ti keeps consistency for students who thrive in those conditions. It will also alleviate the issue of arguments for where the student work was last left. If they know where to find their work and know my expectations, then they know what it takes to be successful within my room. Thank you for helping to support my students' learning.
