My Students

Many of my students are learning that numbers represent quantities. This year will change the way they look at math.

I have a bright, energetic bilingual group of kindergartners this year.

We are in a dual immersion program and spend the majority of our day learning in Spanish. Math is one of our favorite times of the day because we get to do some fun, engaging small group centers. We are ready and eager to learn!

My Project

My students need Wikki Stix, dough, magnetic numbers and an assortment of counting games and geoboards. The materials I am requesting will be perfect for our math time centers. They are great, hands-on materials that will help make number sense and concepts a concrete fact rather than an abstract idea. What better way to learn than by touching, creating and manipulating the curriculum?

For any grade level, and especially in kindergarten, it is incredibly important to make the curriculum come to life.

Often times, this is what helps nail a concept for your class. In math, this tends to look like centers where students can manipulate objects and numbers to better understand the concepts at hand. With the requested materials, my students will be able to do just this, making their understanding of math more significant for the years to come.
