My Students

I am currently a third grade teacher in a high needs area. My students are diverse learners and the classroom would benefit from Lysol disinfecting wipes, tissues, paper towels and Purell.

The majority of the students in my school are struggling financially.

Most students qualify for the state's free or reduced rate meal program. Due to the budget cuts schools are facing, teachers in my school are no longer able to personally give each student the resources they desire. Supplying my students/classroom with this material will hopefully reduce the spread of germs.

My Project

Since my students come from low-income homes, it would be a real challenge for their parents to take off of work and still be able to afford the basic necessities for the home. Unfortunately, that leaves some parents stuck between a rock and a hard place, choosing to leave their sick child home alone or sending them to school where they spread their germs to others. Also, if students are constantly sick that leaves gaps in their education. Think about all the lessons and discoveries they will miss! With your help our classroom will be prepared to fight a battle in the cold and flu season.
