Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students at my school are an extraordinary group of kids. The English Learners in particular are so determined to learn. The students in this after school club that we have formed, want to be able to read and write in English! They are so excited to be able to have the opportunity to work on their homework and then expand their English skills. Through hands-on, craft activities, students will be able to follow written and oral directions in English and make themselves jewelry they can be proud of and share with their family and friends. My classroom library is not updated with culturally dynamic books and that is why I chose what I did. Creating art projects that the students can express themselves is key for this club, which is why I chose the materials I did. This club is a way for students to get their homework done withe support and relieve some stress and bond with their classmates in the process! The key will be that when homework is completed students have a variety of activities that will help them in their expression and build in their confidence and creativity.

My goal is to have them learn English through engaging activities.

The products that I chose should be able to facilitate an intensive and dynamic program, where English is the focus, but their creativity is at the forefront!
