Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of our unified school district that helps students build the social and academic skills to help prepare them for a bright educational future. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. My energetic preschoolers enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.

This year I will be conducting a book club servicing students in grades kindergarten through first.

We will be doing an author study using Mim Fox books. This book club will help to foster a love of reading while teaching the students the craft of writing like an author.

They love to count, write their names, identify letters and sounds, draw pictures, build structures, and pretend play in the dramatic play area throughout the day. In the art area, the students love to use their imagination to create, draw, and make things. They love to try new things with their hands. They shine with light as they proudly identify letters and discover sounds and numbers.

My Project

This author study will be used to help students understand the specific elements used by an author. An author study actually is a series of lessons that will develop students as critical readers through the analysis of a specific author.

At the end of our author study, the students will be able to write a reflective piece by looking at the styles of the author they have spent time reading and learning about.

This will help students develop skills and competencies that will support them as they become stronger readers over time.
