I have an after school class of 22 wonderful first and second graders! Our school is located in a low-income area. My students come from homes where they barely have crayons and pencils. I decided to create an after school art club and I want to provide them the supplies to express their creativity.

I have decided to host an after school art club. On the first day I asked the students how many of them had ever used paints and clay. Sadly, over half the room did not raise their hand. From that moment I decided that I needed to get as many art supplies as I could! During this time I want to show my students how to paint with temperas and watercolors, and how to use modeling clay. I want them to have these experiences so that they can express their creativity through art! I want to see the excitement in their eyes as they get to create their own masterpiece.

With these fabulous art supplies, my students can come to after school and work on art. I know that art is so important, and our school does not have the resources to have an art teacher or art class. I am trying to fill that void and expose our students to the wonderful world of art! I cannot imagine growing up in school and not having art. I need to make the change and get art into the lives of our children.

With your help I can show students how wonderful art is! I can teach them how to paint big beautiful pictures, and to mold clay. I want to make a difference in these children’s lives and together we can make that dream come true!
