My Students

My school is located in a multicultural area of Philadelphia.

A percentage of students are learning to speak English for the first time.

It is a low-income area of the city and students often come to school with little to no resources provided by the school district. However, my students never see that as a barrier to their learning and are always motivated to do their best.

Black Scientists!

I teach Science and Social Studies. During Black History Month I would love to connect the two for my students!

My students need black history science inventor books in hand to read along and complete a black history project during online learning, we will use these books to complete our black history projects during online learning.

Students will be able to research an African American Scientist, create a slide show, and share with their classmates through an oral presentation. They will be able to share it with classmates and develop a true love for history, inventions, and science. Finally, orally presenting will help to develop their public speaking skills and build a student's confidence.

My Project

Students who read these stories will find science fun and begin to experiment more for enjoyment! Helping students begin to learn more about African American scientists and that inventing and experimenting is fun. It's the perfect way to build my student's creativity. Books about African American inventors and women are a gateway to better scientific and reading skills for reluctant readers. My students will love getting their hands on books about inventors that look like them. I truly need your contribution to help encourage my students to dream bigger and visualize the greatness in themselves through the work of others!
