This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing grows there. My young scholars have broken me out of my comfort zone, and I have broken them out of theirs. We have grown together and we work together as partners. We ALL present a growth mindset, so we can continuously be the best versions of ourselves.

I have very high expectations for the young scholars in my classroom.

Regardless of where they come from or what others have said about their previous academics or behaviors. All of my scholars can and will learn.

My scholars come from low economic status. All of them receive free breakfast and lunch. The school itself is placed in between two mobile home parks where some of my scholars live. Others make a longer journey to get to school. However, all of them show up ready to learn and ready to grow. Each of my scholars has gifts or talents that makes them unique. I draw their uniqueness out of them from the moment they enter my classroom. We form a community together that is much like a family. I want to be able to provide them with everything they need.

My Project

Classrooms should be a warm and inviting place that students enjoy walking into and enjoying staying in. I am asking for items to make my classroom comfortable for the students physically and academically. This year we are starting an adventure theme because learning is always an adventure.

With the help of these donations my students can embark on the adventure of learning in style.

I am asking for five floor pillows so my students can leave their desks and sit comfortably in groups on the floor. I am asking for a 5 pack of stools for desktop computers in my classroom, so my students can sit correctly at computers. I am asking for reading and math board games for the students to play during reading and math centers. Playing these games will cement concepts previously learned. Plus this is a fun way for students to engage in Reading and Math. Finally, I am asking for organizational bins to create a clean and organized space that the students can be in charge of. The students sit at tables not desks. They don't have a space to keep their group work or individual work.The students will store their assignments and notebooks in the ten drawer organizer carts.
