Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students share that excitement and joy of waiting for and then finally devouring the newest books in their favorite series.
My students crave the desire to learn and engage with each other.
Many of them need hands-on learning. I have begun this process with them by using interactive notebooks.
My students are inquisitive, voracious learners who desire new materials to help them grow.
Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. As English Language learners, hands-on interactive notebooks are so important to my students and are truly valued.
I am the sixth grade English Language Arts teacher at a K-8 elementary school in a Title I school. Many of my students do not have access to materials and resources at home and rely on our classroom supplies to complete projects and interactive notebook activities.
My Project
These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create.
My students enjoy the ability to read, plan and discuss literature.
They read in their groups, discuss the aspects of the book and do a project and present it to the class.
Every student book that is used is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. Then they will be conducting discussions and creating a project.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
