Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Photo, computer art and web design to urban High school students in Illinois. This is the first year advanced students will receive college credit with the AP program!

My Advanced Placement Art students must come up with their own theme with many works based upon it to create their portfolio and receive college credit. High School students aren't used to this!

I want the Art students to create their own sketch books and start collaging their own works and found images together as a rapid-fire way to come up with many new ideas quickly. I have found several great books at Barnes and Noble; my students LOVE any beautiful art book I can put before them, including history of art, how collage changed history, and also a couple "how to" books for the reluctant few.

There are many AP Classes in many subjects. Most take a test at the end. AP Studio Art is the ONLY AP class in which the students create a cohesive body of work containing an original student idea. Help me jump start independent thinking in the next generation!
