Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Each of my advanced placement students enters their junior year full of excitement. I intend to meet that excitement with quality reading materials.

These students are high achieving juniors that have succeeded at an exemplary level on the Global Regents exam in their sophomore year.

They have been selected to be a member of the Advanced Placement program due to their drive and thirst for knowledge. They come from different sections of New York City and represent many ethnic and racial groups. The one unifying academic factor is the need for challenging courses for growth as scholars. Also, they all come from a family that is struggling financially.

My Project

These additional reading sources will provide for a classroom library of choice. Each month the students will have to read one book outside of the classroom and provide a written presentation of the facts. The students should have as much choice as possible and these four titles will expand the possibilities offered.

This project will make a difference in our classroom by providing additional reading materials.

These reading experiences will enrich their understanding of American history and meet their needs for additional sources of knowledge.
