My Students

I have a group of students 11th grade and 12th grade in an urban high school. I teach upper level Mathematics.

We often need more resources than are available; I teach Algebra 2 and Advanced Algebra with Financial Applications.

Students are eager to learn but need timely resources.

Most of my students are seniors for whom I've been following their school progress since they were freshmen. Some of them are college bound and some will loo for careers when they graduate.

Its my job to make sure that they which ever path they chose they'll be prepared.

My Project

My students wiil be required to produce a portfolio of completed work throughout the year.

The first project will be on discretionary expense.

This first project will begin to see math work in a real world way. The next project will be on banking services, checking accounts, saving accounts, compound interest, present and future value of money. The next project will be on consumer credit followed by automobile ownership. Next we will move on to employment basics and income taxes and independent living. Finally the stock market, business modeling and budgeting. If time permits we will talk about planning for retirement.
