This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in a high-poverty neighborhood, where many families are struggling and almost all students receive free lunch.

My class consists of 17 kindergarten students. Nearly all of the students speak English as a second language and their parents do not speak or read English at all. All of the students are very excited to be in kindergarten. They are all very eager to learn. They have all been doing such a wonderful job with virtual learning!

My Project

As we return to school, students will still be using Google Meets as our learning platform. Some students will be in the classroom participating in our Google Meets, while many students have opted to stay home. With only one laptop provided by my district I am unable to view students while I am presenting.

A Microsoft - Surface Go 2 - 10.5'Touch-Screen Laptop will enable me to join the Google Meet on both computers, then present on one computer while viewing students on the other.

Being that I teach kindergarten I need to constantly monitor the students to make sure they are paying attention, as well as monitor for questions. Two laptops will make this possible and will create a better learning experience for my students.
