Help Ms. Collins

I teach high school in an inner city school. The technology in our building is not current, and unfortunately we do not have the budget to update our classrooms.

Using materials outside of the textbook always makes my students more engaged in the lesson and the material. I like to change up the lesson plan in order to help keep the students interested and to better learn the difficult concepts of biology. Several different resources are available to my classroom on the Internet however, we only have one computer in my classroom and no projector. It is not currently feasible for me to make PowerPoint presentations, utilize online sites, or watch videos.

By adding an LCD projector to my classroom, I can use the computer much more effectively. I will have the opportunity to bring outside sources my students already use into the classroom and use them as a learning tool. I can use a great number of resources such as YouTube, the online textbook, online quizzes, and video clips from university websites. Not only will I be able to use it to teach, but my students will benefit as they will be able to use it for their presentations and projects. I can also use it to pull up pictures of projects that my students have used in order to let them teach the class and explain concepts to their peers. A projector will also make my classroom more like a college class. I can prepare lessons using PowerPoint much like college lectures.

My classroom would greatly benefit from a projector. Your donation will help to update my classroom and my lesson plans. You will also be preparing my students for the college atmosphere. Thank you for your help and support of science education!
