My Project

I am entering my second year of teaching and will teach second graders this year in Ogden! Second grade has a huge focus on helping students continue developing their reading skills. I want them to become confident readers and to have a desire to read throughout their lives. So I am requesting many popular titles for this age group to add to our classroom library.

My students come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and families.

Therefore, I would like to give them opportunities to read books that represent them as well as books that explore other diverse cultures and people. Many students also enjoy graphic novels as well as some of the fiction titles I've included in this project.

I have requested books that will help early readers continue developing their decoding skills as well as titles that will help my higher students increase their vocabulary and build fluency. By having these books in our classroom, my students of all reading skills will become more successful and find the joys of reading.
