My Students

The first time I played the guitar in a band, it blew me away. I was hooked. I want these young students to share that excitement. The school band has keyboards, drums, and microphones, but they don't have any stringed instruments. This donation will add a new level of skill to our band members.

Our school is located in an area of need in Brooklyn, NY.

We don't have money in our budget for extras. Our scholars are incredibly talented. The band is comprised of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. It blows me away that these young students can perform songs such as Superstition by Stevie Wonder. Incredible! I want to add actual strings, instead of the simulated strings of a keyboard.

My Project

I would like a mini Strat (Squire, by Fender) for the smaller hands of 3rd graders, and a regular-sized Squire Strat for 5th graders. I am also asking for an amp and all the necessary accessories to get them started. Imagine their faces when they receive this equipment. Imagine the SOUND of the band with this addition. Imagine how many students through the years that will benefit from this donation: learning a brand new instrument, that they can actually afford in the future. This instrument will be great for their motor skills as well as their minds.

Music is so important.

It has been shown that it helps students with their mathematical thinking. It can improve your mood. It can take you away to a happy place in your mind. Playing in a band amplifies those feelings. It's amazing. Please help us make this a reality for some incredibly gifted children.
