Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a New York City Department of Education teacher in the Bronx, I have witnessed my students of all ages, year after year, face several obstacles that occur both in and out of the school environment. I work in a large, Title I school with a very high population of either low income-high poverty residents or English language learners. In the majority of cases, it is both. Even though my students are faced with many challenges at such an early age, they try their best to persevere with a positive mindset. My students show up every day with motivation and an eagerness to learn. As a result, they develop a strong sense of gratitude because of wonderful learning opportunities.

Having materials printed in color will provide a more appealing and provide a concrete connection for students to engage in learning.

Literacy centers are a daily part of our school day. The Epson EcoTank printer will allow me to print non-fiction texts in brilliant color. My students will beam with excitement when they are able to closely examine rich pictures and photographs from their printed leveled texts. Seeing photographs and text features in color will hold the attention of the young minds that I teach each day! In addition, students will be able to print writing pieces, information for their research reports and presentations. I also love capturing our learning throughout the school year. The Epson EcoTank printer will also allow us to print beautiful colorful photos from the school year to display in the classroom.
