This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students with disabilities are incredible individuals with unique strengths, abilities, and potential. They inspire me every day with their resilience and determination to overcome challenges. In our special education classroom, we focus on physical movement by creating engaging, supportive opportunities that foster their growth, independence, and confidence.

The resources requested in this project will have a significant impact on their learning.

The adaptive sports equipment, such as the slow-motion soccer ball and mini-golf set, will help my students develop motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and social skills as they engage in inclusive sports activities. The flag football belts, agility ladder, and pickleball sets will provide opportunities for teamwork, physical fitness, and skill-building tailored to their unique needs. Sensory-friendly tools like the ribbon wands and scooter boards will allow students with varying abilities to participate fully while also supporting sensory regulation.

My goal for this project is to create an inclusive, adaptive physical education program that fosters physical development, promotes teamwork, and builds confidence in my students. By using sports and fitness as a medium, we can help them achieve personal milestones while having fun in a safe, supportive environment.

What makes my students special is their incredible diversity and determination. They come from different backgrounds and face unique challenges, yet they share a common drive to learn and succeed. This equipment will allow them to participate in meaningful physical activities, often for the first time, helping them feel included and valued.
