My Students

Ms. Andrea, Ms. Maggie, and Ms. Brooke are Occupational Therapists who work with children with special needs from prek to 8th grade. We work with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments in our school. We work with an amazing and diverse set of students both in inclusion and the self contained setting for students with multiple disabilities.

Our students are working to be as independent as possible and need adaptations and modifications to everyday school activities.

Most of out students are in a low-income area but are great students. They are fun loving, determined and bright minds.

My Project

We will be able to make every day toys or battery operated school based activities switch accessible by using battery interrupters or soldering switches to them. We will be able to use light trays to draw attention to paper materials for students with vision impairments or struggle with visual attention. We can allow safe sensory exploration at the table or when standing their physical therapy equipment for pressure relief and weight bearing for their overall health. We can make individualized activities laminated for multiple uses and add velcro dots to make it interactive.
