My school is home to multiple district-level special education programs. Students in these programs attend music with their grade level peers. Making sure a music lesson aligns with grade level curriculum while also effectively and appropriately including students from these special programs is a daily challenge.
Students with disabilities deserve the necessary tools to make music accessible.
A rolling cart puts bass instruments at the appropriate height for a student using a wheelchair. Rolling carts also allow students - disabled or non-disabled - to independently move a heavy instrument. Adaptive mallets provide instrument access for students with limb differences and motor impairments.
Having appropriate resources will help guarantee that all of my students find success when we are playing instruments in music class.
