My Project

The bulk of this request is for my advisory period. While I agree with the concept of advisory and the importance of social emotional learning, I've found that many middle schools approach SEL from a "learning" perspective, and make it more about teaching than an actual social emotional experience. As a result SEL is often more about the teacher than it is about the students' experience.

With the overwhelming amount of technology ever increasing in students lives, I'm hoping that utilizing our weekly advisory period as a chance to foster real life relationships will benefit them socially and emotionally.

The food will help to create a more welcoming environment (who doesn't want a snack at the end of the day on a Friday).
