This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Preschool children are so eager to come to school and play and learn. I teach a class of 18 preschoolers in a high-need community in Virginia who are so very excited to come to school.
As a part of our preschool curriculum, we have to have about an hour of active play, or center time each day. However, my classroom material for these centers are very old, most of them are broken, in one way or another, and unsafe
My students really do need new, safer materials for their housekeeping and dramatic play area of the classroom. All it would take is a new kitchen table and stool set and some new, germ free toys for them to start put into their center.
Every child should be given the opportunity to play with new, clean toys. Not many children feel special when they play with visibly old, broken toys. Every child deserves the chance to feel special and your help will make that possible for my students.
