My Students

Or classroom services special education students with a variety of disabilities. In the recent past we have had a influx of students diagnosed with ADHD. Such students benefit from active seating and standing arrangements while fulfilling their daily tasks.

My students range from kindergarten to fourth grade.

They are amazing students who teach me just as much as I teach them. We are a diverse group and accept the unique differences that we each bring to the group. Many of my students benefit from sensory stimulation that can be accommodated through various movement breaks and alternative work stations. All of my students have either a 504 or an IEP, many of which require that I offer special seating and/or standing options for the students while in my room. Standing desks will ensure that I meet the requirements stated in these documents.

My Project

My students will continue to participate in the same curriculum that their currently participating in; however, they will comfortably stand while completing their assignments. As of now, I do allow my students to stand while completing their work; however, the desks we have were designed to be sat at. When students stand at these desks they must bend over, putting their bodies in an unnatural and uncomfortable position. I look forward to being able to offer my students a more comfortable and productive work environment that accommodates their sensory needs.

With these donations, our classroom will be able to effectively provide the needed classroom furniture beneficial to students with ADHD.

Our classroom will be tailored to fit the unique needs of my very active students.
