Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a hard-working group. They always come in ready to learn and to conquer the day. We are a Title I school with many English Language Learners and many of our students come from low-income families. 100% of my class receive free or reduced-price lunch pricing.

We are a neighborhood school, so all of my students live in walking distance to school.

They are a tight-knit community that support and encourage one another. Our school enrollment is just under 700 students. Our distinguished practice is Health and Fitness, although we also emphasize music and technology. My goal is to create well-rounded, 21st Century learners.

My Project

Physical Education is not just a time for students to run around or just a part of school curriculum. Keeping my students active is essential in making them ready to learn and conquer the day.

Through specific games, our Physical Education program teaches students about the five components of health related fitness (cardio respiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body composition) and allows them to develop motor skills, interpersonal skills, social responsibility and recognize the importance of daily physical activity.

All of the equipment for Physical Education is shared with recess; this makes it difficult to have all the necessary equipment for an entire class of 30 or more students. Having our own set of footballs, basketballs, soccer balls, jerseys and cones, will help most of our students to be active most of the time. Please help us boost our brains and keep us healthy and fit with physical education equipment!
