Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager to learn, curious and a joy to teach. They are deserving of the best possible education and that is what I strive to provide for them. My school, located in East Palo Alto, serves Latino, Polynesian and African-American students.

Nearly all of my students come from low income households where the resources are often limited and families are stretched thin.

A large percentage of our families meet the definition of homeless. I am trying to teach them how to use technology and at the same time, learn language arts, math, science and social studies. I am committed to offer them the best possible education.

My Project

My project includes many new and exciting options to keep the students moving and busy during recess time. The list includes items such as new balls, bean bags, scarves, and a pop and pass ball game, a large tic-tac-toe game, and carnival outdoor games.

With these new supplies, my students will be motivated to stay active and engaged both on the playground and in the classroom.

These items can also be used indoors for movement breaks during class or on a rainy day recess day.

The other part of my project includes items for our English Language Development Centers. The focus is on interactive play and conversation. The new playdough and tools will enable kids to create as they converse. There will also be new floor cushions for students to use during partner reading or cooperative play. I can't wait to keep my students active and engaged!
