Hello, I teach 7th grade highly accelerated Algebra and 8th grade highly accelerated Geometry. These students desire to learn. With the pandemic leaving them with less instruction last year, they are thriving for math. They are all at home learning through zoom sessions and zoom sessions can't replace the one on one teachers have with their students. About 65% of my school qualify for free/reduced lunch. Most of our school's funding go to personnel so updated technology that meets the need of our students can be difficult to purchase.
My Project
I just received a Microsoft Surface from Donors Choose (A big thank you to those that contributed) to use in my virtual classroom and eventually in my real classroom when I am able to return to school. The Surface and the pen accessary allows me to show colorful equations, notes, graphs, etc. It also makes it possible for to write problems, in real time, when students need additional help in a zoom. My students have said they learn better when I color code notes and the stylus pens allow me to do this.
More than half of students from low‑income households
