This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten classroom is an inspirational group of young learners from diverse background with a wide range of abilities and life pursuits. Some of my students are currently learning to read and write, while others are beginning to conceptualize numeracy and connect counting to cardinality. My classroom loves to play new games, and dance, and eat peaches. They love eating fruit!

In my classroom (and in my elementary school), we build a safe community for educators and students to engage in learning "outside of the box." We are part of a larger school district in our nation's capitol.

We celebrate each other throughout the day in our small group activities, reading and math stations, and work towards developing academic skills in various ways to meet the needs of every student. We are a team.

My Project

My students will share accessories (headphones and cases) for the use of Amazon Fire Tablets during our small group activities. They will work on online modules with an emphasis on mathematics and literacy. The children will have the opportunity to use technology as an interactive learning tool that can boost their STEM education. They will conceptualize numeracy and start connecting counting to cardinality. In order to to ensure the longevity and success of tablet use, I am requesting any donations for case protectors and headphones for the children to be able to listen in and work through the modules.

My students will share seven headphones and tablet cases in order to use their newly donated Amazon Fire Tablets and boost their STEM education through the use of technology in the classroom, as well as, a magnetic dry erase board to debrief and review what was learned.

We will have three rotations. Each individual student will work on online modules with an emphasis on mathematics and/or literacy. The software and applications include STMath, Lexia, Starfall, and use of Clever Badges for easy log-in for students.

In addition, we have some uninvited guests in our classroom that come out at night. We are asking for a little help with repelling mice and rats in a eco-friendly and kid-friendly manner by way of installing ultrasonic pest repellents throughout the classroom. We are also in need of a magnetic dry erase board to debrief and review material covered in the online modules. Ultimately, it is my goal and my school's mission to prepare each student with 21st century skills.
