My Students

At the end of last May my students took the new Common Core Standards Aligned test. It was the biggest nightmare for them. The lack of access to technology made me feel so sad to see how unfamiliar they are to using something we all take advantage of. Please help me help them.

I teach students a few miles from downtown Los Angeles.

They are Latino English learners that are eager to learn. They are poor but lovable kids good hard working families. They arrive to school hair brushed and clean eager to learn, but their tattered and torn shoes and closes are a clue to how poor they are. As a male educator who chose to make a difference when other opportunities arose I chose to help those that need help the most. I am aiming at making my classroom a technology rich classroom. The material I am asking for will help them access the world and the endless possibilities that life has in store from them. Please help me help them.

My Project

My students will be using the material to access the World Wide Web, free online encyclopedias, educational youtube videos, and reading and math intervention through their use. During many subjects there are opportunities to do small group instruction and task that the apple products can be used for them to access the world and learning.

Last May my students took the new Common Core Standards test on Ipads and it was a nightmare.

The majority of the students had never used an Ipad. Simply pinching and dragging was foreign to them. My students are hungry to use technology to open their eyes and minds to endless opportunities.
