My Students

I teach 4th grade to some amazing students. In all, I have 22 students that enter my classroom everyday! My classroom is a diverse population of students in a Title 1 school. Due to COVID-19, our school year will be extremely different than my students are used to.

Eighty percent of the school population receives free or reduced price lunch.

Some students are English Language Learners, as well as students in the Exceptional Student Education program.

All of the students are unique in their own way. Each child has varied academic levels that include ESE and ELL. Our goal is to hone in on specific standards and strategies by giving daily intervention and encouraging students to put their best foot forward to achieve success.

My Project

Recently, I was blessed to receive much needed technology for my classroom. Students who are having difficulty writing down their thoughts to paper are utilizing classroom tablets to write through speech to text.

This type of assistive technology is the best way for my students to really show what they know.

Speech to text is a difficult task when we have 22 students in the classroom working collaboratively. Finding a quiet space with no noise is almost impossible. My students need noise canceling headphones to drown out the background noise of their peers so they can complete their essays.
