My Students

My students are part of a diverse community. They are eager to learn and experience the creative process. They come in to the art room with great anticipation for what they will experience there. They love working with different art materials and take great pride in their accomplishments.

Art gives children the chance to express themselves like no other subject can.

The skills learned in art also transfer to academic subjects, helping our boys and girls to experience a richer, more well-rounded education.

My Project

I teach students with special needs across grade levels. Some of my students are in small self-contained classrooms, others are in integrated classrooms with their typically developing peers. They all enjoy art class and are so proud of the work they do. My students will benefit from having light pads to trace images and help them be successful regardless of skill level. Having a variety of stamps and stencils will also contribute to their sense of accomplishment and allow them to attain their goals for expressing themselves in art class.

Giving all children access to the curriculum allows for equity and individual success.

These materials will help support my students with special needs by allowing them the freedom to choose and use a wider variety of supplies without singling them out as having any special needs. They will be able to engage more fully in the creative process and create beautiful work.
