My Project

My students are growing to love reading through classroom novel studies and accelerated reader goals. The materials that I am requesting will be used to help my students reach their accelerated reader goals, create strong and independent readers, and organize reading materials.

Students of all reading levels need books that they can read and easily access, to help them feel successful.

The students in my class have a wide range of reading levels and access to a classroom library has grade level books, but would benefit from novels that support lower reading levels. The Step Into Reading books will allow students of lower reading levels have access to books within the classroom, this will give them the ability to reach their goals, while still growing as readers.

To organize the novels in my class in a way that aligns with the accelerated reader program, the stickers will be used to label the accelerated reader level of the books in our class library. The Step Into Reading books will be organized in the acrylic stands to make them easy to access and view for students within that reading level. The headphones will be used for students that are reading on the online platform MyOn, which also helps them meet their accelerated reader goals.

Finally, the class novel set will be used to help students meet the 4th grade standard of reading on grade level texts with accuracy and for a purpose. Having students of all reading levels read a novel together, creates a sense of community and leads to deeper discussions. Students will be encouraged to think outside the box and relate the novel to content related to grade level reading standards.
