Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Students today are so impacted with electronics like TVs, computers, Nintendos or the like that teachers have difficulty keeping their attention without something flashing across a screen. Instead of putting my students in front of another screen, I want to give them something they can manipulate.
Students in my classroom come from several different backgrounds, every level of education, and most are on reduced or free meals.
Some students are being raised by grandparents, others by only one parent who they hardly see because they work two jobs just to support their family. I have students with limited English, some with special needs, and also others that are able to think way outside the box; so to say my classroom is diverse is an understatement.
My Project
Students learn best through opportunities to play and manipulate objects. Opportunities that make learning fun and engaging help students connect with the material and learn quickly. The magnetic alphabet and stamps will allow students to engage with the letter, the sound it makes, and begin to create words. I've also requested an activity set that will allow students to explore the alphabet three different ways. The first set will help students recognize the alphabet with both capital and lower case letters. The second set will help students begin to explore phonetic awareness. The third set will allow students the opportunity to begin building words. All of the resources requested will be great instructional tools not only for large group instruction, but also will be beneficial in several small group activities as well. These resources will not only be instrumental in their success, but they will increase interest in learning and exploring opportunities for growth.
This project is important to not only me, but more importantly to my students.
I want to give them as many opportunities to succeed as possible. These resources will give my students additional resources to help them succeed and in turn increase their confidence and drive to succeed.
