Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are part of the District 20 Pre-K program based in South Brooklyn. They come from diverse backgrounds and the majority of them are English Language Learners. At four years old, many of them are just starting school for the very first time.

My Pre-K classroom is a safe and supportive environment where my curious little learners feel courageous enough to take risks.

They enter my classroom excited to learn, explore, and grow. My goal is to meet their needs in a way that is developmentally appropriate. For children this age, that means teaching through purposeful play and hands-on activities that are geared toward their interests. Please help me provide my students with the resources to support and enrich their learning experiences.

My Project

In Pre-K, students begin building the foundational skills that will help them to become more successful in reading and math. Among these skills are alphabetic knowledge and number sense.

By adding to our ABC and math centers, these materials will help my students build these important skills.

Additionally, they will help students build social and emotional skills such as how to interact with students and familiar adults, turn-taking and problem-solving skills, and how to seek help when encountering a problem. This is especially important for students that have had little to no experience in a group setting such as school.

Please help my students on their way to greatness by adding to our ABC and math centers! :)
