My Students

My students are sweet kindergarteners with diverse special needs. This is their first experience in school and I'm hoping to make it an exciting, stimulating, fun, and safe year ... despite all of the challenges that COVID has presented us. My students have a range of special needs and challenges ranging from help with communication and social skills to students who need assistance with learning opportunities to engage their cognitive development. The students are so excited and happy to be at school every day .... even in their adorable character themed masks.

My Project

Covid-19 has dramatically impacted how our youngest students have had to navigate their emotions and feelings. Students have had to adjust to at home and in-school learning by pivoting between the two very quickly while not always understanding why they aren't in school.

I have found that this year, more than ever, students are experiencing anxiety and frustrations like never before.

I would like to start adding a social skills component to our school day to give students an outlet for their expression of their feelings.

Sharing their feelings with their peers in a safe space can be very beneficial to little ones!
