A World of Books

Help me give my students the opportunity to read richer texts that would allow them to have more exposure to a wide variety of issues around the world. As a result, they would have more meaningful class discussions.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second graders are a group of curious and vivacious dual language (English and Spanish) students who come from very diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. They love reading, researching, and traveling through books. In addition, they really enjoy learning about different people, languages, and/or cultures and having class discussions about it.

Unfortunately, most of our books are broken, outdated, or are not challenging enough for our class.

We need new chapter books (levels Q through T) and non-fiction series books to help us continue to become better readers and at the same time allow us to continue to have rich and awaking class discussions about the world around us. Please help our class to continue to nurture their love for reading, language, and culture. In addition, please help our class to continue to develop their points of view about the issues that affect them by providing them with access to more engaging and complex texts. We will truly appreciate your donations!

My Project

These books and magazines will make a huge difference in my students' lives in and out of the classroom. These resources would allow them to learn more about the world around them, help them shape their sense of right and wrong and start developing their own ideas and/or voices about issues affecting different societies around the world. As a result, they would also start thinking about/discussing ways in which they can make a difference in their own lives to then provoke a greater change across the world. Finally, reading more and learning more will give them the confidence they need to grow so much more academically, socially, and emotionally.
