My Project

I am seeking donations for my project focused on gathering independent novels about refugees for my 8th grade students to foster empathy and understanding. My students will be tasked with reading an independent novel centered about the refugee experience as we discuss our core text about the Syrian refugee crisis: A Land of Permanent Goodbyes by Atia Abawi. These stories will help illuminate the experiences of those who have faced unimaginable challenges, allowing students to connect with diverse perspectives and develop a deeper appreciation for resilience and courage.

By supporting this initiative, you can help provide these young readers with powerful narratives that encourage critical thinking and compassion, ultimately enriching their education and promoting a more inclusive classroom environment.
