My Students

Today is a new reality for educators, students, and parents. Never did I think for a minute that in May, we would still be in a world of precaution and uncertainty. When I said goodbye to my math students in March, I truly thought it was more of a "see you soon" rather than the last time I would see them exit my classroom. However, I, as an educator, still have time to prepare them for a promising future as they embark into middle school.

My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey!

We are actively engaged in all sorts of different online platforms (Google, IXL, Khan Academy, Prodigy, etc.) and learning new things. My students and I communicate daily using Google Meet to go over new material, to check in with each other, and just catch up on everyday happenings. In addition, I record numerous lessons from home for them to view and continue to learn new mathematical concepts. I have been truly amazed and touched by their level of dedication, engagement, and participation, along with many families' willingness to accept our new reality.

My Project

Many of my students will benefit from this laptop in numerous ways. I will be able to use it for math planning, parent/student communication (Google Meet, emails, live conferencing), maintaining an updated virtual classroom, creating and presenting content virtually through conferencing, grading and record-keeping.

My students will directly benefit from this laptop through live video lessons, and up-to-the-minute information that having access to technology and internet provides.

Sadly, the overall NYC budget has taken a huge financial hit during this epidemic, money is and should first be allocated to needs of our students.
