My Project

Located in Central Harlem, my class is full of lively, thoughtful, and creative pre-k students. I love that my students love to use their imagination and dive into play! Play is an integral part of early childhood development. Through play, children learn the skills they need to navigate the world.

These materials from Teachers Pay Teachers will help give us the resources to change our dramatic play areas and centers, and allow the children to stretch their imagination, create scenarios, build their language and literacy skills, and problem solve.

This project would allow us to create dramatic play areas that change weekly or monthly to go along with our classroom themes based on the current thematic unit of our curriculum. For example, during our unit on babies, we would use the materials purchased to create a nursery or daycare in which the students would learn about caring for babies. For our unit on plants, the materials would help us to create a garden or flower shop to further enrich the students learning and help them to apply it to real-life scenarios.
